Styled as steelseries, SteelSeries is a Danish firm that produces gaming peripherals including gaming keyboards, gaming mice, gaming headsets and gaming surfaces.
Founded in the year 2001 by Jacob Wolff-Peterson, SteelSeries’s original name was Soft Trading. The name was changed in the year 2007. Soft Trading made the SteelPad and Icemat mouse mats. In 2008 Ideazon was acquired by the company. Ideazon was a North American-based manufacturer and developer of gaming peripherals.
The first CEO of the SteelSeries was Michael von Essen-Mueller who helped the firm establish its brand and glow globally. In the year 2007, Bruce Hawver became the CEO of this company. The firm saw tremendous growth over the next 5 years as it expanded its distribution channels and portfolio as well. They developed the SteelSeries Engine Platform as well as added many partnerships across the gaming and e-sports ecosystem.
In the year 2012, SteelSeries received investments of unrevealed amounts from Chinese private equity firm ClearVue Partners and American private equity firm Catterton Partners.
